Difficulty Progression

What Changes as Ascension Increases?

The modifiers do not all attack the same part of a run. As Ascension rises, difficulty spreads across encounters, healing, economy, potion capacity, card rewards, enemy durability, enemy damage, and finally the Act 3 Boss sequence.

A1–A3

Route and Resource Pressure

More Elites, reduced Ancient healing, and lower Gold rewards make early route and resource decisions less forgiving.

A4–A7

Run Flexibility Shrinks

Potion capacity, starting Curse pressure, Merchant removal cost, and reduced Rare or Upgraded card frequency make it harder to repair a weak deck later.

A8–A9

Combat Gets Harder

Enemies become harder to kill and their attacks become deadlier, raising both offensive and defensive requirements.

A10

Double Boss

The final modifier changes the end of Act 3 by requiring two Boss fights instead of one.
